Abstract

Graciela Silvestri is an essential reference for those concerned with landscaping studies, particularly Río de la Plata fluvial ones; they are the result of a long-time process involving academic experience, research and hybrid disciplinary approaches. The aim of this interview is to understand how she has developed her own view and considered the current feasibility of landscaping as a notion. Silvestri analyzes -from a cultural history perspective- the effectiveness of her approach being sensible to architecture and reassessing fluvial landscaping notion over time. This implies the reflection upon not only contemporaneity and –as she puts it- “city paths” but also the necessary role of history and culture researchers when addressing water subjects ranging from river basins to fresh water floods. In addition, it calls for an architectural disciplinary view of “the ways of dealing with the extent and complexity of fluvial issues”.

Graciela Silvestri, Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina

Arquitecta (FADU-UBA) y Doctora en Historia (FFyL-UBA). Investigadora Independiente del CONICET con sede en el Instituto de Investigación Historia, Teoría y Praxis de la Arquitectura y la Ciudad de la Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Profesora titular ordinaria de Teoría de la Arquitectura, FAU UNLP. Profesora visitante, Graduate School of Design, Harvard University. Especialista reconocida internacionalmente en temas vinculados con la arquitectura, el territorio y el paisaje, sobre los cuales ha dirigido proyectos de investigación y dictado seminarios en Argentina y en el exterior. Autora de diversos libros y artículos, entre los que se destaca El paisaje como cifra de armonía (con Fernando Aliata, Nueva Visión, Buenos Aires, 2001), El color del río. Historia cultural del paisaje del Riachuelo (Editorial de la Universidad Nacional de Quilmes, Buenos Aires, 2004) y El lugar común. Una historia de las figuras de paisaje en el Río de la Plata (Edhasa, Buenos Aires, 2011).

Daniela Cattaneo, Universidad Nacional de Rosario, Argentina

Arquitecta (UNR, 2000). Doctora en Humanidades y Artes (UNR, 2011). Investigadora Adjunta del CONICET con sede en el CURDIUR, FAPyD-UNR. Ha realizado estudios de posgrado en la Universidad Torcuato Di Tella y en FLACSO Argentina, área Educación. Coordinadora del Doctorado en Arquitectura. Profesora Adjunta de Diseño Arquitectónico (FCEIA-UNR).
