Abstract

Boris Ivelic is founding member and Director of the Master’s Program in Architecture with a Nautical and Maritime Major of the Architecture and Design School of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso (EAD-PUCV). He lives in Ciudad Abierta where he has been working and studying for more than forty years along with other professors. EAD-PUCV is nowadays an international reference; it has played a key role in our Faculty as regards the incorporation of contents dealing with the link between architecture and landscaping as well as the development of practices 1:1. This interview contextualizes the relationship between our institutions and addresses the concept of maritime territory and its significance to understand both tangible and intangible dimensions of the Chilean territory. It also approaches the influence that this notion has exerted on EAD-PUCV undergraduate and postgraduate academic and scientific production.
