Abstract

The rescue of the school drawings of a student Antonio Gaudí gives rise to this conversation. They are taken as the starting point for the exploration of the myth of the genius centered on the figure of this Catalan architect. The journey proposed in the interview reveals other myths related to paradigm shifts in the teaching of architecture and design. It also shows how figures such as Gaudí contribute simultaneously to their fostering and retracing by means of the review of  archival documents.

Author Biographies

Juan José Lahuerta, Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña, España

Doctor arquitecto. Profesor titular de Historia del arte y de la arquitectura en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona. Es director de la Cátedra Gaudí, en la misma ETSAB. Ha sido asesor del Reina Sofía de Madrid y curador del Museu Picasso de Barcelona. Es autor de numerosos textos de referencia en cultura, arte y arquitectura. Desde los años setenta participa en proyectos colectivos, como la revista Carrer de la Ciutat, hasta hoy, formando parte del comité científico de la revista milanesa Casabella. Ha sido curador de numerosas exposiciones: la más reciente, Gaudí. Fuego y cenizas en 2020.

Jorge Nudelman, Universidad de la República, Uruguay

Arquitecto por la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona (UPC), 1986. Doctor por la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (UPM), 2013. Profesor titular en Régimen de Dedicación Total en el Instituto de Historia, y adjunto en el Taller Danza, Facultad de Arquitectura, Diseño y Urbanismo, UDELAR. Investigador Nivel 1 del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores. Ha publicado libros individuales y en colectivo, así como en revistas especializadas nacionales y extranjeras. Actualmente investiga sobre historia de la enseñanza de la arquitectura.

Investigadora adjunta del Consejo de Investigaciones de la Universidad Nacional de Rosario. Coordinadora Editorial de A&P Continuidad. Jefa de Trabajos Prácticos en Historia de la Arquitectura. Codirectora del proyecto “Escuelas públicas históricas de la ciudad de Rosario. Una revisión arquitectónico-pedagógica en clave de justicia espacial”. Campo de investigación actual referido a la historia, teoría y crítica de la enseñanza de la arquitectura en vinculación con el campo profesional y pedagógico.
