Abstract

The diagram is one of the graphic tools by means of which architectural concepts, forms and spaces are developed. This kind of graphics that creates and controls the design process is intended to be the focus of this conversation dealing with its pedagogical instrumentation as well as its professional reach. Thus, works based on the use of this tool -which is half away between graphics and shape- are analyzed.

Leaving aside its mythical association with digital graphics, the diagram is an interpretation means of architecture itself. It should not be related to the idea that it undermines representation by merely generating “nice pictures”; it should be viewed as a tool able to translate set concepts and goals into architectural works.

Diego Arraigada, Universidad Nacional de Rosario, Argentina

Arquitecto (Universidad Nacional de Rosario.1999. Medalla de Plata). Obtuvo su Master en Arquitectura en 2003 en la Universidad de California en Los Ángeles (UCLA). Es Profesor en la Escuela de Arquitectura y Estudios Urbanos de la Universidad Torcuato di Tella (UTDT) en Buenos Aires y Profesor Adjunto en la Facultad de Arquitectura Planeamiento y Diseño de la Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR). En el año 2000 recibió el Premio Arquitectónica para Jóvenes Arquitectos. Es miembro del estudio Diego Arraigada arquitectos. Sus obras han sido premiadas en diversas ocasiones. Juan Manuel Rois, Universidad Nacional de Rosario, Argentina

Es Máster en Arquitectura por la Universidad de Illinois en Chicago, Profesor Titular del Ciclo Básico en el Área de Teoría y Técnica del Proyecto Arquitectónico en FAPyD UNR. Ha sido profesor invitado en la UPC de Barcelona, TEC de Monterrey, en la Universidad de Michigan y en la Universidad de Harvard. Su trabajo teórico incluye ensayos publicados en las revistas Azure, Arquine, Plot y Summa+, entre otras.
