Abstract

This conversation has been held in Rosario’s Tenth Congress of Students of Architecture (CREA). It aims to blur the boundaries between architectural theory and practice linking the research topics addressed by Flores & Prats’ studio to the academic activities developed by the School of Architecture of Barcelona. Grounded on their works, their training process for students and their fruitful relationships with artists and actors of other disciplines, Flores and Prats pose their concern for both the present situation of architecture as a discipline and their peers’ professional formation. They reflect on the difficulties of issues related to building and city rehabilitation based on their own academic and project process experience. They deal with the creative stage as well as the previous historical and social assessment as necessary means to become aware of the actual context within which each project will be carried out.

Author Biographies

Ricardo Flores, Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña, España

Arquitecto por la FADU de Buenos Aires, Máster en Diseño Urbano y Doctor Arquitecto por la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona. En 1998 funda con Eva Prats Flores & Prats Arquitectos. Profesor de la ETSAB, donde dirige junto a Eva Prats un Taller de Quinto Año y un Taller Final de Carrera.

Eva Prats, Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña, España

Arquitecta por la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona. Durante sus estudios colabora con Enric Miralles en numerosos proyectos y concursos. En 1994 gana el Concurso Internacional EUROPAN III y forma su propio estudio. En 1998 junto a Ricardo Flores forma Flores & Prats Arquitectos. Es profesora de la ETSA de Barcelona y del Royal Melbourne Institute of Tecnology.

Verónica Peralta, Universidad Nacional de Rosario, Argentina

Arquitecta (UNR). Master en “Arquitectura: Crítica y Proyectos” por la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB). Titular Asociado de Proyecto 4 (FA-UAI). Docente en Expresión Gráfica (FAPyD-UNR). Desarrolla su práctica profesional en Estudio SPARQ con el que ha obtenido numerosos premios en concursos a nivel nacional e internacional. Las obras del estudio han formado parte de publicaciones, muestras, exposiciones y han obtenido premios nacionales.
