Abstract

This conversation with José Castillo Ruiz explores the path towards the configuration of Agrarian Heritage as a cultural asset recognizing the significance of the set of assets linked to agricultural activity. It deals with different aspects of the process; it does so from its beginning to the current situation focusing on the challenges for urban planning and public administrations in different contexts. He addresses what this means as an element for the development of cultural tourism and the risks derived from it. The aims of this interview are to disseminate the new concept; and, to know its state of consolidation, its value for the development of more sustainable urban environments and, in that sense, the current challenges from the disciplinary point of view. Castillo Ruiz is a key referent in the subject due to his professional history; his contribution to the theoretical and normative frameworks as well as his extensive and committed dissemination work are highlighted.

José Castillo Ruiz, Universidad de Granada, España

Historiador del Arte por la Universidad de Granada (UGR). Especialista en Protección de Patrimonio Histórico y, en particular, en la dimensión urbana y territorial del patrimonio inmueble. Catedrático de Historia del Arte (UGR) y docente en cursos y postgrados nacionales e internacionales. Investigador principal de varios proyectos de I+D+i como el Proyecto PAGO (El Patrimonio Agrario: La construcción cultural del territorio a través de la actividad agraria). Autor de numerosas publicaciones sobre diversos ámbitos de la Tutela, y fundador y exdirector de la revista erph. Miembro ICOMOS-España y activista en la defensa del patrimonio histórico, especialmente del patrimonio agrario y de la Vega de Granada, y de la profesionalización de la historia del arte.

Arquitecta y Magister en Arquitectura del Paisaje por la Facultad de Arquitectura, Planeamiento y Diseño de la Universidad Nacional de Rosario (FAPyD-UNR). Becaria Doctoral del Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET/CURDIUR). Ha realizado estudios de posgrado en la UNR y en Universidad de Kassel. Docente en Proyecto Arquitectónico (FAPyD–UNR). Sus principales temas de interés están en relación a la construcción social del paisaje, el hábitat integral y el planeamiento territorial.
