We invited architect and urban planner Sergio Baeriswyl because of his career in urban planning and public management as well as his benchmark status in Chile when it comes to rethinking our cities and territories, especially in this context of global health crisis. This conversation sought to deal with his view of the present situation of different-scale Chilean cities; they are strongly scourged by not only COVID-19 emergency but also pre-existing problems related to environmental risks and social vulnerabilities common to those of the rest of Latin America. Further knowledge of the way in which specific proposals and participatory management forms were defined has become a precious contribution to the resilience improvement of our cities and the solving of the serious problems that affect us. On this occasion, both his work in the Bíobío Region and his performance within the framework of the National Urban Development Council have been of particular interest. He is the current chairman of this advisory body of the Government of Chile; it is constituted by representatives of the public, private, social, academic and union sectors.
