Abstract

After 90 years of Weissenhofsiedlung -the iconic neighbourhood and housing exhibition held in 1927- this article proposes to deal with its ideas and proposals as well as its core influence on the shaping of the so-called Modern Movement taking into account the key role played by Le Corbusier. We attempt to review the project, the complex process of its gestation period, the debates and criticisms it raised when it was introduced and throughout the process of transformation that the movement as a whole experienced over the years. We also address the way in which was approached by both urbanism historiography and architecture. Finally, we reflect on its current state and the possible vanishing points that not only enable its reassessment but also serve as a particular means for rethinking our cities and their contemporary architectures.
