Abstract

Architect Francisco Patxi Mangado was interviewed in the context of the Latin American Architecture Biennial which took place in Pamplona in May 2017. This conversation is focused on the concept of memory and its interaction with the architectural project. The biographical memory enables to consider the significance of memories shaping the architect’s personality while a more instrumental dimension allows the operation in the city through built segments over time. The dialogue deals with the concepts of material, construction and time enhancing the comprehension of not only the work of this Spanish architect but also his academic role as professor in postgraduate education. It is in the Museum of Archaeology in Vitoria that Mangado’s ideas take shape. The museum has become the means by which Mangado has turned his work into the backdrop of a city in which memory is alive.

Francisco Mangado, Universidad de Navarra, España

Arquitecto (Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de Navarra). Es profesor de Proyecto en el Máster de Diseño Arquitectónico y profesor extraordinario de Proyecto en la Escuela de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Navarra. En 2008 creó la Fundación Arquitectura y Sociedad. Paralelamente a su actividad académica y su dedicación a los programas de la Fundación, ejerce la profesión desde su estudio en Pamplona. Esta labor lo ha hecho merecedor de importantes premios nacionales e internacionales.

Nicolás Campodonico, Universidad Nacional de Rosario, Argentina

Arquitecto (FAPyD-2001). Profesor Adjunto del Taller Carabajal en la FAPyD. Alterna su trabajo profesional con la docencia que ejerce desde 1998 al mismo tiempo que participa en numerosos concursos nacionales e internacionales. Ha colaborado como docente en la Universidad de Navarra, la Universidad Torcuato di Tella y la Universidad de Venecia.
